Long Week in June

Darcy traveled 4 days this week, we missed him very much. Monday was my last 1/2 day at work. I was pleased that this week I was quite a bit busier. Nothing makes the day feel slower than not being busy. Monday I made it to the gym, had a great workout but didn't make it back until Sunday! I am slowly turning back to mush. Note to self - get into gym - oh and stop eating junk.

Tuesday we attended Sara's soccer game. I visited with friends Helen, Craig, Jen and Aman while chasing Dylan around the soccer field. Hailey made a new friend and spent most of the time trading snacks.

Wednesday evening I picked up the kids and we had a picnic in the backyard. We enjoyed the sunshine, Hailey and Dylan played in the sandbox and on the slide. The weather Thursday and Friday evening was not great, we played inside the house after work. The kids were full of energy and loads of fun.

Hailey was thrilled Saturday morning when Daddy presented her with the Cinderella dress that he brought home for her. She has hardly taken it and her glass slippers off since. Dylan is a typical boy so he quite quickly took to the truck that daddy bought him.

Saturday we had great intentions. We took the kids to the rec center with plans to work out but when we got there we discovered that they do not have weekend child care in the summer. Instead we had lunch and the kids played for awhile in the indoor play park. Dylan was more active than ever. He is walking a lot now and spent almost the entire time climbing up all of the different slides.

Sunday morning Darcy's parents watched the kids while we went to gym. For lunch we had a BBQ at Darcy's parents and then while Dylan napped Hailey, Darcy and I went mattress shopping. Hailey enjoyed trying out each bed explaining to us which mattresses were best. In the end Hailey selected the mattress that we purchased. In the evening Hailey had her last soccer game. It was disappointing to say the least. Only 4 players showed up and the kids tired quickly without a break. Hailey was more interested in her crackers than playing. She did however score her one and only goal of the season. Well done sweetie pie!

Dylan has been a bit of a monkey this week. Now that he is walking, he is getting a lot faster and spends more time on his feet. He now reaches for things on the tables and his new favorite trick is to turn the TV on and off. He races to get up the stairs, into the fridge, the dishwasher or open cupboards. He loves the television remote and phones. He picks up all kinds of objects and puts them to his ear as though he is talking on the phone.

Hailey loves to dress up in Princess dresses with fancy shoes, crowns and jewelry. She loves to have her toenails painted and loves flip flops. She adores Disney princesses and insists that her barbie princess dolls wear shoes. She loves to ride her bike, she enjoys riding fast and is great at braking and loves to honk her horn when she see's others.
