5 Degrees

Each season Hailey's dance class hosts 'bring a friend' night. Hailey invited her good friend Willow to dance class on Wednesday night. From the moment Ryan dropped Willow off the girls were giddy. They changed into their dance outfits and giggled all the way to the dance studio. Fortunately, they were in a studio with an observation window and open door so parents could watch the class. They had so much fun dancing together. After class we hung out in the new trailer and Ryan and Bridget joined us for awhile. The kids played on the top bunks most of the time.

Thursday night I had class. We did a combination of running, spin and stairs. I was exhausted by the end of it but glad to have had a great workout before the long weekend. Darcy spent hours building a ladder and rail for Hailey's bunk in the trailer, she was delighted to give it a try and can get in and out of her bunk on her own now.

May long weekend often marks the start of camping season for us...although the weather usually does not cooperate. This year was no exception. It was a cold, windy, rainy and a little snowy weekend. We kicked off our May long weekend with a wedding celebration. Friends Aman and Luke hosted a reception Friday night to celebrate their recent marriage. Aman looked beautiful dressed in traditional Indian attire, as did some of her close friends. We had decided to take the kids since we figured they would really enjoy the dancing, but the late dinner was a bit too much for Dylan. I had to take him outside the hall during most of the ceremony. The meal was great, followed by loads of fun dancing. Hailey danced until her feet hurt and Dylan danced until he was ready to sleep.

Saturday morning we packed up and headed for the lake. We checked out our new site and decided enough grass had grown in that we would move into the site. It took the boys awhile to get the trailer into position and then I started to arrange things inside. I love it, so much room to move, so much storage. We arrived in the rain and found the temperature was 5 degrees. In fact, every time I looked at the thermometer for outside it read 5 degrees. I decided that there might be something wrong with it until Sunday when we left the temperature had rose to almost 8 degrees. The kids fortunately were content to play inside the trailer almost the entire weekend. In fact, we went outside a few times and they were cold and asked to come in. They played with toys, watched movies, colored, climbed and we even built a fort.

Sunday night we received news that Sean and Robyn had their baby! At 6:15 baby Peter James arrived! We came home Monday afternoon, tidied up and while Ken and Linda watched the kids, Darcy and I popped over to the hospital to congratulate Sean and Robyn and to meet baby Peter. What a sweetie!

Linda brought over Dylan's birthday gift, she made him an Oiler's quilt, sham and valence for his room. It looks fantastic, Dylan was so excited.
