Weather or Not

It seems as though Tracy and Dan packed up that crappy weather and flew away with it because we had some beautiful, hot days after they left.

We went to the lake for the weekend. We met Dad and Ila there on Friday night. We had chili for supper and got unpacked. The kids got to bed a little late, they were very excited and overtired. The ladies sat around the fire while the boys went wake boarding. We gabbed and snacked until after midnight and then turned in.
Saturday it was smokin hot. We spent the day either in the boat or on the dock. We enjoyed a few slushy drinks mid afternoon and a fabulous steak dinner.
Since we were eating outdoors and the day was so hot it seemed like a fine time to let the kids dig into some cold juicy watermelon. They both chomped away at piece after piece, swimming in watermelon juice. Dylan also practiced using the spoon with his yogurt. Needless to say we cleaned up some very messy faces!

We checked out the progress on our new lot, found that the grass is coming up ok but the ground is fairly uneven and we need to remove some stumps and get the brush and weeds under control. It doesn't take long for it to grow back in.

Later in the evening aunty Bev came out and we took a quick boat ride before a nasty storm hit. Unfortunately, it was the end of the nice weather. We dodged the rain, taking cover under trailer awnings. We stood around what was left of the fire during odd breaks in rain. It was damp and cool but we enjoyed the visit and some enjoyed the lightening show -- not me though...storms are scary.

It had rained most of the night and off and on Sunday morning. We packed up and by the time we left it was pouring. It was nice to get home early in the day to get laundry done and for Darcy to get packed, he took off early Monday morning for Calgary.

The weather improved on Monday and is hot again today. I did a 5KM run Monday afternoon shaving 6 minutes off my regular time. I was pretty pleased. I also hit the gym today at lunch to do weights. It felt a little better, hopefully before long I will be back on track. I took the kids to Toys'R'Us last night. We have a few birthday parties coming up soon so we picked out some gifts. Hailey pointed out everything that she would like which was a very, very long list. Dylan grunted and pointed to all the trucks, typical boy. I bought Hailey a big girl chart with magnets. It has a list of responsibilities to chose from and days of the week. I picked a few for her and she was pretty excited to work on them. I am heading out to pick the kids up shortly, cross your fingers that she had a very good day and will get some smiley faces!
